There’s something special about starting the day surrounded by people who love this city and are working every day to make it stronger. That’s exactly what happens at Good Morning, Overland Park!, hosted by the OP Chamber. Business leaders, city officials, and community partners come together to share the good news about what’s happening across the city, and it’s clear there’s plenty to celebrate. From major investments and job growth to new projects and local initiatives, the message was simple: Overland Park’s future is bright, and it’s being built right now.

Economic Development: Building Opportunity

The Overland Park Economic Development Council kicked off the morning with an impressive roundup of company expansions and new investments in our community. In total, these projects represent more than 2,800 new jobs and over $180 million in combined investment, a huge win for both residents and local businesses! Companies recognized included: Fiserv, Lochmueller Group, Security Benefit, Morton Salt, Ace Retail Holdings, ANS, Electrical Corporation of America, Propio, and Southwind.

Each announcement tells its own story, but together they point to a clear trend: Overland Park continues to attract organizations that see value in our workforce, our business climate, and our community. The highlight among them, GSR Development’s joint venture project with Geosam Capital and Group RMC, will bring a 43-acre mixed-use development to Corporate Woods. Plans include new residential, retail, dining, and recreational spaces designed to make one of OP’s most recognizable areas even more vibrant and walkable.

These investments don’t just grow the city’s economy; they strengthen its identity. They create jobs for residents, expand opportunities for local entrepreneurs, and enhance the kind of community that people are proud to call home.

Local Business Highlights: Innovation and Expansion

One of the best parts of this event is hearing directly from the companies shaping Overland Park’s business landscape. From new headquarters to community programs, the updates this year showcased the diversity and momentum that keep OP moving forward.

Cboe, a global financial company operating in 25 markets worldwide, recently moved its operations from Lenexa to Overland Park. Their relocation brings another major corporate presence to the city’s thriving financial and technology corridor.

At Bluhawk, the team from Price Brothers shared that the marketplace is now 92% leased and preparing to celebrate its one-year anniversary on October 24 for the AdventHealth Sport Park at Bluhawk. A new Holiday Inn Express is set to open in May, and a walkable lifestyle expansion, The Boundary, will break ground in November furthering Bluhawk’s vision of being a true community hub.

Food and hospitality continue to make their mark, too. Chicken Salad Chick, a fast-growing restaurant brand with 300 locations in 22 states, is opening four Kansas locations, two of which will be in Overland Park. The first, located on Metcalf, is already open, and the second will join Bluhawk in November. With 13 flavors of chicken salad on the menu, there’s a favorite for everyone. The new Paris Baguette is also finding sweet success by baking everything fresh daily and welcoming new fans with every visit.

Netsmart, a healthcare technology company focused on mental health and substance abuse solutions, continues to grow its local presence on the Aspiria campus. With 1,000 employees in Overland Park and a thriving internship program, Netsmart is a reminder that innovation and impact can thrive side by side.

In the world of sports and recreation, 3&2 Baseball is gearing up to celebrate its 75th season in 2025. The private nonprofit operates 27 fields and hosted an incredible 11,000 baseball games this year, welcoming nearly one million visitors to Overland Park. Of the 650 league teams that played, 25% were from OP, making it one of the community’s top tourism draws.

GolfTRK, a membership-based golf training and performance company with high-end facilities, continues to scale rapidly; expanding to 17 franchise units in just nine months with locations across Omaha, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. Its flagship location is set to open in northeast Johnson County in 2026, further growing the region’s reputation as a destination for athletes and innovators alike.

Black & Veatch, a cornerstone of Overland Park’s business community for 50 years, continues to make a global impact with project work spanning six continents with many employees based right here in OP. The company will celebrate Veterans Day with T-Mobile and the City of Overland Park on November 6, another example of its commitment to both global progress and local community.

Lifted Logic, a longtime local favorite in digital marketing, recently expanded from 9,000 to 35,000 square feet after 15 years in business. Their ongoing “Code for a Cause” initiative offers nonprofits the chance to receive a donated website; proof that success is best shared when it gives back.

Overland Park Regional Medical Center also shared progress on its $50 million expansion project, which will add new surgical suites and further enhance care at its Overland Park campus. The hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit is leading innovative work in preemie care, helping the youngest patients get the best possible start in life.

Education and workforce development continue to shine through institutions like Ottawa University, whose Overland Park headquarters on the Aspiria campus serves more than 1,500 students across in-person, hybrid, and online programs. With a healthcare focus, Ottawa’s 15-month BSN program and new Physician Assistant program launching this January reflect OP’s strong pipeline for healthcare talent.

ANS, a full-service engineering firm headquartered in Southcreek, continues to grow locally with nine employees and plans for expansion. With 19 offices nationwide, their Overland Park team plays an essential role in the company’s continued success.

Hill’s Pet Nutrition, now headquartered on the Aspiria campus, has been recognized for its people-first (and pet-friendly) approach, complete with onsite dog parks and an office named one of the “coolest” in the metro.

Rounding out this year’s updates, Children’s Mercy Hospital continues to make major investments in its Overland Park campus, with a $150 million expansion designed to improve surgical access, outpatient care, and overall patient experience.

From tech to healthcare, hospitality to sports, these updates show a city that’s not just growing but growing with purpose.

Community Updates and City Progress

Mayor Curt Skoog and city representatives shared a series of important updates shaping the city’s day-to-day life and long-term vision. Among them: the launch of Overland Park’s first property tax rebate program, which helps residents most in need by returning up to 75% of the city’s tax portion. The Clocktower Landing project continues to move forward, and the city’s new community-designed flag now flies proudly downtown and at city facilities, a small symbol of shared pride that represents something bigger.

Infrastructure progress also took center stage with updates on the U.S. 69 Express Lanes project and information on how drivers can use K-Tags to make travel smoother. Meanwhile, in preparation for the World Cup, Johnson County Transit, supported by the City of OP and Lenexa, is creating a new KCI Drop-Off Service with departures every 20 minutes between the airport, the OP Convention Center, and Lenexa City Center, demonstrating another step toward regional connection.

From the Chamber: A Year of Momentum

The OP Chamber also shared an update at the event, reflecting on a year full of milestones. The organization was recently voted Best of Johnson County for Chamber of Commerce, welcomed 124 new members, and added five new staff to its growing team.

Programs like the Executive Leadership Series, DC Fly-In, Civics Bee, and Candidate Forums continue to serve members and the community while making progress towards Opportunity Now goals including: 1) Attracting, retaining, and aligning talent, 2) Boosting job growth and business investment, and 3) Enhancing a pro-business climate.

Other highlights included the launch of All in OP (yes, this very platform!), the new Livability publication, and ongoing collaboration through the Talent Council and Small Business Council.

Looking Ahead

It’s easy to get lost in the numbers, but the story behind them is what matters most. The growth and investment happening across Overland Park are creating a ripple effect that touches local families, small businesses, and future generations.

When global companies choose to expand here, when local entrepreneurs double their footprint, when the city builds new infrastructure that makes daily life easier, each piece adds up to something much larger. It’s proof that Overland Park’s success isn’t accidental; it’s intentional, collaborative, and rooted in a shared belief that when our community grows, everyone benefits.

Good things are happening in Overland Park. And from the looks of it, we’re just getting started.
