The free summer lunch program is returning to schools in Johnson County. Families will once again have access to free summer lunches for kids through local school districts this summer.
According to reporting from KCTV5, both the Olathe Public Schools and Shawnee Mission School District will offer free lunches at select school locations beginning June 1.
The free summer lunch program is open to children ages 1 to 18 with no registration or income requirements. Meals must be eaten onsite, and children must be present to receive lunch.
In Olathe, lunches will be served Monday through Thursday from June 1 through July 23. Shawnee Mission schools will offer lunches Monday through Friday from June 1 through July 24, excluding June 19 and July 3.
Several locations are available throughout the area, including schools in Overland Park, Lenexa, Shawnee, and Olathe.
Programs like these help provide consistent meal access for local families while school is out for the summer and continue to be an important community resource across Johnson County.
Be sure to check directly with each district for the full list of participating schools, schedules, and program details.
